Audi Airbag light saga

So once again 5 days in the dealership for an Airbag light. this time it is apparently the wiring harness connection to the steering column that was the culprit.  in fact they think this was the issue the whole time.  back story since I never blogged on that issue.
Stevens Creek Audi blows goats -
I took in my RS6 due to an airbag light.  they cleared the code and could not find the issue.  about a week later it came on again, they took it and "checked it out" came back that they wanted to replace the steering wheel airbag for $1700.. yeah right.  so I said I'll wait.  I did for months until the Battery light came on.  Now this was a drivability issue.  I took the RS6 in to a closer dealer.  RECTOR audi in Burlingame.  They figured it out.  not only did they figure out the issue and get it covered by my extended warranty, but they also found a valve cover gasket leak.  that was a major service and they also got that covered by the warranty.  I would recommend RECTOR audi to anyone ever looking for a good fair dealership.

Driven: 2007 Porsche Carrera S

This week I was able to drive a co-workers Carrera S.  It was pretty nice.  he is a timid driver so I took it easy.  In general I noticed how small the interior is.  So much so that I wonder if I could really own one with a growing child who would have to sit in the rear seat.  I have seen kids jammed in the back and they look miserable.
Other than that, the drive was nice.  I compare it to my R32.  the R32 is way stiffer than the Porsche even when set to "sport" mode.  But the Porsche did not exibit bad behavior during mid-corner bumps that my R32 would.  Part of the R32 issue is that the shocks are due to be replaced though.  The Carrera S was quick, but not really quick.  I was not able to drive it in anger though so it remains to be seen how well it goes and stops etc.  It did feel like it would be confidence inspiring though.
One main concern is that there are SOOO many on the road.   I like having my 1 of 400 black leather 2004 R32.  I never see another really and when I do it is a quick thumbs up from the other driver.  And for the cost, my R32 really feels like a match.  It is not a GTI.  It is not a tin feeling rickety small vw.  They built it alongside the Pheaton and it is very solid, sounds great, and over built.

20:20 hindsight

Love, Life, Work.. Cars.  What if we could know something when we needed to know it?  Know what someone close to you was going through at the time they were going through it?  Know the thing that was or could change your course?  Make the right decision for your career when you needed to make it?  Even for cars..  if you knew that driving your hero vehicle would be so great and at the same time disappointing would you do it?  You hope for the best and can see before you miles of happiness even if there will be bumps in the road here or there.  Unfortunately you can't know what you need to know when you needed to.  You can't take back hurtful words, you can't go back and take that job offer and you can't prevent your dreams turning to nightmares.  It's life.  As long as you are not hurting others or being hurt then it is all part of the journey to take in and experience as it happens.

Live in the moment with the ones you love and take care of them, Make hard decisions without regret or fear of change, Love what you do or do something else, and Never drive your dream car...

More car damages and moving on

Wow more than a a year.  ok so marriage still done..  working through it.  daughter doing ok, still painful for her though. RS6 replaced with another one - black this time. R32 hit while parked in front of my brothers house which was lame and irritating.  R32 fixed and doing well, but worthless so I will keep it until it blows up, which will be never since it is so over built.  Selling the RS6 now that I have had my fix.. ready to part with it on my terms this time.  Looking at all sorts of replacements, considering an aston martin if I can find one very cheap and not abused.  that may be a stretch.  For the difference I could go on an adventure to patagonia that would be so off the wall and interesting I would be a fool not to try it.  I need someone to go with though and right now there is no one.  it is too far and remote to take my daughter.  So an old friend perhaps?  we'll see...
